Everything You Need to Know Before You BookFrequently Asked Questions

We know choosing a place to board your pet is a big decision. These are the questions we hear most — answered honestly and clearly. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, we’re always just a phone call or message away.

General FAQs

What makes Camelot different from a standard kennel?

Quite a lot, actually. Camelot is a premium pet resort — not a kennel. The difference is in the details: spacious, comfortable accommodation; experienced, genuinely caring staff; personalised care routines; enrichment and exercise built into every day; and over 40 years of hard-won expertise in pet wellbeing. We treat every pet as an individual, not a number.

How long has Camelot been operating?

Camelot Pet Resort has been caring for dogs and cats since the early 1980s — over 40 years of trusted pet care. We’re one of Western Australia’s longest-established premium pet boarding facilities.

Where are you located?

We’re located in Karnup, in Perth’s southern corridor. We’re easily accessible from Rockingham, Mandurah, Baldivis, Secret Harbour, Port Kennedy, and surrounding suburbs.

Vaccinations & Health

What vaccinations does my dog need?

Dogs must have a current C5 vaccination, which covers canine distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus, parainfluenza, and bordetella (kennel cough). Vaccination certificates are required at or before check-in.

What vaccinations does my cat need?

Cats must have a current F3 or F5 vaccination covering feline herpesvirus, calicivirus, and panleukopaenia. Certificates are required at or before check-in.

Do you require flea and worming treatment?

Yes. All boarding pets must be up to date with flea treatment and regular worming. This protects every animal in our care.

What happens if my pet becomes unwell during their stay?

We monitor all guests daily. If we notice any health concerns, we contact you immediately. We have clear protocols for veterinary referral and will always act in your pet’s best interests.

Can you administer medication to my pet?

Yes. We manage medications for pets with ongoing health requirements. Please discuss at the time of booking and bring medications clearly labelled with dosing instructions.

Booking & Payments

How do I make a booking?

You can book online via our website, call us directly, or send an enquiry through our contact form. We recommend booking well in advance for peak periods — school holidays, Christmas/New Year, and long weekends fill up fast.

During The Stay

Can my pets share accommodation?

Dogs or cats from the same household can often be accommodated together. Please advise at booking.

Can I bring my pet's own food, toys, or bedding?

Absolutely, and we encourage it. Familiar items from home help pets settle quickly and feel comfortable.

What do I need to bring for check-in?

Current vaccination certificate, your pet’s food (if providing your own), any medications with instructions, and any comfort items you’d like them to have. We’ll also ask you to complete a simple check-in form on your first visit.

Dogs & Daycare

What's the difference between daycare and boarding?

Boarding is overnight accommodation — your dog stays with us while you’re away. Daycare is a daytime-only service — you drop your dog off in the morning and collect them in the afternoon or evening. Daycare is ideal for working pet owners.

Is daycare suitable for all dogs?

Daycare works best for sociable, vaccinated dogs with manageable energy levels. We assess all new daycare dogs before they join the group. Not every dog is suited to a group environment, and we’ll always be honest about that.

Cats & Cattery

Is the cattery completely separate from the dogs?

Yes. Our cattery is a fully separate, dedicated feline-only area. Cats have no contact with or disturbance from the dog areas.

My cat is quite anxious. Will they be okay?

Anxious cats can board very successfully with the right handling. Our team is experienced with shy, nervous, or anxiety-prone cats. Bringing familiar items from home (a blanket, toy, or worn clothing) can help enormously. We’ll give anxious cats extra gentle attention to help them settle.

Still Have Questions?

We’re always happy to chat. Whether you’re a first-time boarder or a returning guest with a specific query — reach out and we’ll get back to you promptly.
